Women’s day…? Really…?

Year after year, I keep asking the same question to myself and to my friends, but never have received a satisfactory answer, ever. Why do we need women’s day? Why a day is devoted to us? Why has it been so much commercialized and media making a big deal out of it? Why do we need a day to remind everyone that we are equal or that we women are strong and powerful?

Wait..is there a day for men? Like a Men’s day or something? Or is it that every day is Man’s day but we women need a day to celebrate our being.

Ages have gone by, but till today, in this modern world, we women are asking for permissions, we are confirming our equality by giving ourselves a special day, we need a confirmation to feel special, we need a confirmation to feel strong. We need our men to make us feel special on a day and to tell us that we are equal to them. We celebrate the bravery and achievements of many women on a day, we celebrate womenhood on a day. We want this male driven society to make us feel proud that we are women.

How I wish, we women knew for sure that we are not just a womb, but much, much more than that. We not just give birth but also raise the future. We don’t need someone to remind us on a specific day, how special we are, we know we are special, we know we are strong, God also knew that only women are capable of bringing life, we women are not just equal to men, but so much more. We take care of the house, we raise children, we run a family, we design the future, we run businesses, we rule the sports, we run corporates, but still need a day to prove our worth.

Dear Men, imagine a world without women. Can you? Also let me tell you that my women’s day will be the day when your ego won’t hurt on my salary cheque with a zero more than yours.

My women’s day will be the day when you stop killing me in the womb.

My women’s day will be the day when you stop hitting me over a daal less salty.

My women’s day will be the day when you stop asking for money to marry me.

My women’s day will be the day when you stop using me like just a body without a soul.

My women’s day will be the day when the rape ratio decreases from 92/day to 0/day.

My women’s day will be the day when your face glows on my birth, just as much, on the birth of a boy.

My women’s day will be the day when I get equal rights on education, property, job and what not.

My women’s day will be the day when raising children will be your job too.

My women’s day will be the day when you come home early to cook food and not just sit infront of TV.

My women’s day will be the day when you realise that we need to teach our little boys to respect women, to learn how to cook, to not rape a women if she’s alone and vulnerable.

Dear men, we don’t need a day to be celebrated, we want our lives to be celebrated.

  1. I think we’re moving in this direction, but I would LOVE to see us move a little faster! 2018 and the place is still run predominately by men… Men have already proven they know nothing about what’s best for women…

  2. Your post very very true and beautiful… It happened because for thousands of years what unconscious men have done to women is simply monstrous.. She cannot think of herself as equal as man & she has been conditioned so deeply that even if u say she is equal, she is not going to believe it…It has become almost her mind, the conditioning has become her mind, that she is less in everything & the man who has reduced the women to such a state also cannot love her. LOVE CAN EXIST ONLY IN THE EQUALITY…
Still some ares it happens but things are changing… Change in individual is required to make beautiful world with equality..
I understand, by giving one day name as Women’s Day wont make anything better because somewhere still it shows that yes women are less then men… somewhere it reminds her…
I want evey women to understand and be strong, i think there should be day for unconscious men which can make him realise his unconscious animal behaviour towards women’s…
Being a male i am happy to say not only one day but every day is her day… She have equality same as men in all aspects… 🙏
With all respect i would like to say..
“I know God Exists Because You Exist…” 🙏

  3. Well said and compose. I particularly do not see the hype for women’s day celebration. I am a woman everyday, and a leader in that sphere of influence. I gracefully play the role of a woman and I bask in my womanhood everyday. To answer your question, yes man have day set aside to celebrate them (in fact everything has a day set aside for celebration; you can look it up on the internet) however it is not as popular as women’s day because i think they don’t see the need to hype it. In conclusion, I know what it means to be a woman and I gracefully play the role. Well done, more grace.
